Sexology
What does a sexologist do?
As a sexologist, I specialize in human sexuality in all its aspects. I listen to your sexual or relationship concerns and help when things seem to be getting stuck. Taking the step to seek help is not always easy, but even a first conversation can make a significant difference. A warm, safe, and supportive therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my approach.
One in four people in Flanders experiences sexual difficulties at some point in life. Contrary to what it may sometimes seem, you are not alone. Seeking therapy is not always an obvious step, even though it can be highly beneficial.
What training have I completed?
I hold a Master's degree in Sexology (KU Leuven) and have a background in biomedical sciences. For my master's thesis, I worked under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Deprest (KU Leuven) on research concerning pelvic floor dysfunction after pregnancy. This research was published in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
After completing my studies, I started working as a clinical sexologist at PGC De Zaat in Temse and Ruimte in Ghent, where I have been practicing with great dedication and passion for several years.
Since January 2025, I have also been enrolled in a three-year training program in Systemic Therapy for (sexual) relationships at the IPPR in Mechelen.
What can you expect from a session?
The first session focuses on getting to know each other. We begin by discussing general aspects of your life situation, always within a warm and safe environment. After this introduction, we explore the sexual or relational concerns you are struggling with.
Talking about these topics can be difficult, but as a sexologist, I ensure that everything can be discussed in a comfortable and respectful setting. You are welcome to ask questions at any point during the session, and feedback is always encouraged. This helps strengthen the therapeutic relationship. As a sexologist, I am a trusted professional who offers support, guidance, and motivation.
After the first session, we evaluate your expectations and discuss how they can be addressed. In many cases, practical exercises or assignments are suggested and reviewed in subsequent sessions.
Sessions can take place individually or together with your partner(s).
